The curriculum is in line with the National Curriculum non-statutory guidelines for Key Stages 1 and 2, and the personal, social and emotional development goals of the Foundation Stage Curriculum. As a whole school we follow the Character Education Scheme.
The Character Education scheme follows six main threads each term and these are introduced and followed up in assemblies:
Autumn Term Spring Term Summer Term
Caring Cleanliness Courtesy
Cooperation Fairness Determination
Courage Friendliness Forgiveness
Helpfulness Patience Gratitude
Kindness Respect Honesty
Service Self-discipline
These themes are supplemented by themed days and weeks as well as reflection at the end of each term. Year 5 and 6 pupils also look at Knightly Virtues where they look at themes through stories or true-life characters who have made impact on their society and community or have displayed these attributes.
We try wherever possible to link the topics covered in each term using cross-curricular links with other subjects. These opportunities are identified and demonstrated through teachers own planning.
PSHEE has strong links with science, literacy, drama, RE, Collective Act of Worship, global schools, entrepreneurship and geography.
